Ed recognizes the need to sculpt what he knows rather than what he actually sees. The elongated arms and legs with the fully developed body is a celebration of the visual aspects of the female figure The collection of three (3) very fine quality bronzes entitled "The Letter Suite" brings to life his vision. His art is never lascivious but always sensuous.
His sculpture " The Dolphin", one of the suite of three, features a bronze female figure sensually posed sitting by the water with the dolphin looking on. The letter is addressed to men unveiling her ever changing precepts. The artist expresses his belief that women will always remaining a mystery to men.
Because bronze sculptures last for hundreds of years, Ed refers to bronze as the "eternal material"; the artist enjoys creating in a medium that leaves a legacy for future generations. The artist's patina work and polishing of the bronze is art on to itself. The colors are created by using chemicals applied with heat. The waves are patina bronze. The entire piece is bronze with sections polished, allowing the metal to show through.
