The driving force behind Ed Colarik's new collection
is recognizing that he must sculpt what he knows rather than what he
actually sees. The elongate arms and legs with the fully developed body is a
celebration of the sensual aspects of the female figure. The collection of three
(3) very fine quality bronzes entitled "The Letter Suite." brings
to life his vision. His art is never lascivious but always sensuous.
Ed Colarik's sculpture " The Dove", one of
the suite of three, is an allegory of women's ability to alter and change
with ease. The bronze female figure is sensually posed standing with her knee on
a chair with the dove looking on. The bird representing the capacity
to change. The letter is addressed to men unveiling her ever changing precepts.
The artist expresses the belief that women will always remain a mystery
to men.
Because bronze sculptures last for hundreds of
years; Ed refers to bronze as the "eternal material", the artist
enjoys creating in a medium that leaves a legacy for future generations. The artist's
patina work and polishing of the bronze is an art on to itself.
Ed Colarik’s latest sculpture collection
expresses a new vision that looks upon beauty in the search of truth.
Sensual sculptures of a classical dream not seen before in bronze.
